Privin Network provides private investigation services in Denmark, connecting clients with our investigators and local partners, experienced in surveillance, background checks, infidelity investigations, corporate due diligence, and locating missing persons. Private investigation is not a licensed profession in Denmark; the business operates under ordinary commercial registration with Denmark’s Central Business Register (CVR), and every case is scoped with Danish law in mind from the outset.
Our investigators and local partners cover Copenhagen, Denmark’s capital and its financial and corporate center, home to Nasdaq Copenhagen and most national headquarters, well suited to corporate due diligence and asset investigations; Roskilde, a short distance away on Zealand and home to Roskilde University and the country’s largest annual festival, where much of the caseload involves personal and family cases tied to its mix of commuters and seasonal visitors; and Odense, Denmark’s third-largest city on the island of Funen, which has rebuilt its historic shipbuilding waterfront into a hub for robotics and drone technology, where much of the work involves employment and technology-sector investigations tied to that industry shift. Wherever your case is based, our investigators and local partners know the area.
Our success is based on your success, and here are some of the many professional services our local private detectives in Denmark can provide:
Personal Investigations
Not everyone is always who they say they are. Whether it’s an individual or a corporation, determine who they are and why they’re there.
Background Checks
Identify and confirm pertinent information about an individual for an important decision.
Surveillance
An organization or individual may find that they need surveillance help due to suspicious behavior or due to a situation or event that may have occurred.
International Investigations
If you have a business relationship or are contemplating a new business venture in a particular country, it’s not uncommon to need the services of a private investigator to verify good information about an individual or corporation.
Locate Investigations
With our investigative skills, we can help you gain addresses and phone numbers for locating individuals.
Cybercrimes and Digital Forensics
Equipped with the right technology and a highly skilled staff of professional Investigative specialists, we can assist you in identifying a suspect, the purpose of an attack, and how it occurred.
Infidelity and Adultery Investigations
A marriage or relationship brings with it the expectations of monogamy, but many find themselves in situations where this expectation is not being met by one or both of the individuals involved.
Our trained and experienced Denmark private investigators, staff, and management all have police and/or military background, Furthermore, they are well versed in local customs, culture, and society.
Background checks in Denmark are one of the most sought-after services, particularly ahead of employment, tenancy, and partnership decisions. The core government record is the straffeattest, a criminal record extract issued by Rigspolitiet (the National Police) and requested by the individual themselves through Borger.dk. Danish data protection rules mean an employer may only ask a candidate for one when there is a specific, job-related justification, not as a routine screening step. Our investigators and local partners build on that foundation with employment, residential, associate, and open-source social media history, so clients are not caught unaware by fabricated credentials.
Hiring an investigator in Denmark does not involve a licensing exam or a state board. The business operates under ordinary commercial registration with Denmark’s Central Business Register (CVR), not a dedicated detective license.
That was not always the case. Denmark regulated private detective bureaus directly for more than sixty years under the Vinkelskriverloven (Act No. 63 of 1943, later consolidated), which let authorities refuse unsuitable applicants and gave police inspection rights over detective bureaus. That law was repealed on 1 July 2006 and replaced by the Act on Legal Advice (Act No. 419 of 9 May 2006), which confirmed there is no authorization requirement or mandatory education to work as a private investigator in Denmark today.
Data protection runs through the GDPR and the Danish Data Protection Act (Databeskyttelsesloven, Consolidated Act No. 289 of 8 March 2024), overseen by the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet). Denmark is unusual among EU member states in one respect: Datatilsynet cannot issue GDPR fines directly. Fines are referred to the police for investigation and decided by the criminal courts instead.
Recording a conversation is lawful in Denmark under Section 263 of the Criminal Code (Straffeloven) as long as the person recording is a participant in it. Intercepting a conversation between other people without being a party to it is a separate criminal offense under the same section, and sharing a private recording without the consent of those involved is prohibited under Section 264d regardless of how it was obtained.
Below is a list of our most commonly requested services, but we are also able to handle more niche situations. Schedule a consultation with one of our agents today to get started on your personal action plan.

No. Denmark repealed its dedicated detective-bureau law, the Vinkelskriverloven, in 2006. The Act on Legal Advice that replaced it explicitly confirms there is no license or mandatory training requirement to work as a private investigator, so investigators operate as ordinary registered businesses instead.
Adultery is one of the recognized grounds for an immediate divorce in Denmark without a separation period, provided the other spouse has not condoned it. Custody is decided separately from fault, and joint legal custody is retained by default after a divorce.
Yes. Denmark is a party to the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime, and gaining unauthorized access to another person’s data or computer systems is a criminal offense under Section 263 of the Criminal Code.
