A 30 Year Search for the Truth

In May 2024, Privin Network was contracted by a U.S.-based client seeking to locate the biological mother of her adopted daughter. With only sparse documents and a decades-old photograph, our task was to uncover the whereabouts of a woman last known to be living in Guatemala City — a case that would span borders, generations, and hope.

Initial Information & Search Efforts

The client provided a name, date of birth, and a last known address of the birth mother — a residence in Zone 12, Guatemala City, noted from records dated 2006. Our team began by:

  • Verifying the Guatemalan ID number linked to the birth mother
  • Researching archived employment and residential records
  • Analyzing government-issued documentation and municipal registration logs

From this data, we identified a potential lead — a return to the remote, mountainous municipality of Momostenango, located in Totonicapán.

Field Investigation in Guatemala

On May 17th, 2024, a two-man investigative team was dispatched into the region of Momostenango. After coordinating with local municipal authorities and the regional mayor, our investigators were granted access to a resident registration log.

That record confirmed our lead: the birth mother was still residing in the region.

Following careful and respectful contact, our investigators met with the woman and explained the nature of the search. Upon hearing that her daughter was alive and seeking to reconnect, she expressed both shock and joy, and agreed to a reunion scheduled for June 3rd, 2024.

The Reunion

On June 3rd, 2024, the client and her daughter met with our team at a small café in San Cristóbal, Totonicapán — just a short drive from the mountains of Momostenango. It was a modest place, but that day, it held something powerful: a bridge between two worlds.

After a brief introduction, the group set off together to meet the birth mother in her village. The roads were rough, but anticipation ran high.

Upon arrival, the moment was surreal — the mother stood outside a small storefront where she sold drinks and snacks to neighbors. She hadn’t seen her daughter since she was an infant.

The birth mother reached out gently and held her daughter’s hand, studying her face — now grown, confident, and curious. For several minutes, no words were spoken — just smiles, tears, and a silent recognition that spanned over 30 years of separation.

Outcome & Reflection

This case exemplifies Privin Network’s ability to:

  • Conduct complex adoption locate investigations in Guatemala
  • Navigate remote international regions
  • Partner with local officials respectfully and ethically
  • Piece together fragmented documentation
  • Deliver emotionally sensitive, high-stakes investigative outcomes

We don’t just find people — we rebuild bridges that were once thought lost to time.

For the team at Privin Network, it was one of those rare cases where everything aligned — cooperation from local officials, favorable weather, and a family ready for reconnection. These are the moments we live for: helping people find home, even when it’s halfway across the world.
