Privin Network provides private investigation services in Ecuador, connecting clients with our investigators and local partners, experienced in surveillance, background checks, infidelity cases, corporate due diligence, and locating missing persons. Private investigation is a licensed, regulated activity in Ecuador, and every case is scoped with Ecuadorian law in mind from the outset.
Our investigators and local partners cover Quito, Ecuador’s capital and seat of government, well suited to corporate due diligence and vetting tied to public institutions; Guayaquil, the country’s largest city and main port, handling nearly 90% of Ecuador’s foreign trade, where much of the work involves corporate investigations and asset tracing tied to import and export business; and Cuenca, home to one of Latin America’s largest and longest-established communities of American, Canadian, and European retirees, where much of the caseload is personal, including background checks, infidelity concerns, and protecting expatriate retirees from financial exploitation. Wherever your case is based, our investigators and local partners know the area.
Our success is based on your success, and here are some of the many professional services our local private detectives in Ecuador can provide:

Locate Investigations
With our investigative skills, we can help you gain addresses and phone numbers for locating individuals.
Cybercrimes and Digital Forensics
Equipped with the right technology and a highly skilled staff of professional investigative specialists, we can assist you in identifying a suspect, the purpose of an attack, and how it occurred.
Infidelity and Adultery Marital Investigations
A marriage or relationship brings with it the expectation of monogamy, and many find themselves in situations where this expectation is not being met by one or both of the individuals involved.
Our trained and experienced Ecuador private investigators, staff, and management all have police and/or military background, Furthermore, they are well versed in local customs, culture, and society.
Background checks are one of the most sought-after services, as they are an important step in vetting individuals that are being considered for business and personal opportunities. At Privin, our background checks include detailed information on subjects including criminal, work, residential, associate, and social media history. Don’t get taken unaware by fraud, especially in today’s world where it’s easier than ever to fabricate realistic credentials.
In Ecuador, the government’s own criminal-record check, the Certificado de Antecedentes Penales, is issued free of charge exclusively through the Ministerio del Interior’s online portal and is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. By law, employers and other institutions in Ecuador cannot require this certificate as a condition of hiring or providing services, which is one of the reasons clients turn to a dedicated investigation team for a fuller picture than a single government certificate can provide.
Private investigation is formally recognized as its own licensed service modality in Ecuador, separate from general security guarding, under the Ley Orgánica de Vigilancia y Seguridad Privada, overseen by the Ministerio del Interior. The law defines private investigation as the inquiry into the status and situation of natural or legal persons and their property, carried out strictly within the bounds of Ecuador’s Constitution and laws, and it excludes matters of a criminal or national-security nature, which remain the exclusive domain of the police and judiciary.
Ecuador’s data privacy framework is the Ley Orgánica de Protección de Datos Personales, in force since 2021, with its corrective and sanctioning regime active since May 2023. The law treats personal data protection as an individual right rather than a business interest, giving residents of Ecuador rights to access, correct, and request deletion of their own personal data.
Ecuador follows a one-party consent standard for recordings under Article 178 of the Código Orgánico Integral Penal: a participant in a conversation, whether in person, by phone, or by video call, may record it without the other party’s knowledge or consent. Recording a private conversation you are not a part of is a separate matter, punishable by one to three years in prison.
Infidelity is an explicit, recognized ground for divorce under Article 110 of Ecuador’s Civil Code, but the spouse alleging it must present convincing evidence to the judge rather than a bare accusation. Child custody and support are decided separately, under the Code of Childhood and Adolescence, and are not automatically affected by which spouse’s conduct led to the divorce.
Ecuador’s cybercrime provisions sit within the Código Orgánico Integral Penal, substantially strengthened by 2021 reforms targeting digital offenses. Unauthorized access to computer systems and unauthorized interception of private communications both carry prison sentences, giving victims of cybercrime, fraud, and privacy intrusions in Ecuador a real legal basis for building a case.

Yes. Ecuador’s Ley Orgánica de Vigilancia y Seguridad Privada recognizes private investigation as its own regulated service category, overseen by the Ministerio del Interior, separate from general security guarding.
A participant in a conversation can record it without the other person’s consent under Ecuador’s one-party consent rule. Recording a conversation you are not part of is a crime that can carry a prison sentence.
Infidelity is a recognized ground for divorce in Ecuador, but courts require real evidence rather than accusations alone. Custody of children is handled as a separate matter and does not automatically follow from the divorce grounds.
The government issues a free criminal-record certificate through the Ministerio del Interior, but Ecuadorian law bars employers from demanding it as a hiring condition, which is why a private investigator’s broader background check often fills the gap.
