Privin Network provides private investigation services in Egypt, connecting clients with our investigators and local partners, experienced in surveillance, background checks, infidelity cases, corporate fraud investigations, and asset tracing. Private investigation work in Egypt is carried out through ordinary commercial registration rather than a dedicated investigator license, and every case is scoped with Egyptian law in mind from the outset.
Our investigators and local partners cover Cairo, Egypt’s capital and principal financial and commercial center, well suited to corporate due diligence and background investigations; Giza, part of Greater Cairo and one of the country’s major tourism destinations, where much of the work involves personal and insurance-related cases; and Sharqia, home to the 10th of Ramadan industrial city and one of Egypt’s leading agricultural governorates, where much of the caseload involves employment investigations and corporate fraud tied to its manufacturing and farming sectors. Wherever your case is based, our investigators and local partners know the area.
Our success is based on your success, and here are some of the many professional services our local investigators and partners in Egypt can provide:
Personal Investigations
Not everyone is always who they say they are. Whether it’s an individual or a corporation, determine who they are and why they’re there.
Background Checks
Identify and confirm pertinent information about an individual for an important decision, often drawing on Egypt’s Fesh wa Tashbih criminal record certificate, described below.
Surveillance
An organization or individual may find that they need surveillance help due to suspicious behavior or due to a situation or event that may have occurred. Any recording involved in surveillance work must account for Egypt’s strict all-party consent requirements for private conversations, described below.
International Investigations
If you have a business relationship or are contemplating a new business venture in Egypt, it’s not uncommon to need the services of a private investigator to verify good information about an individual or corporation.
Locate Investigations
With our investigative skills, we can help you gain addresses and phone numbers for locating individuals.
Cybercrimes and Digital Forensics
Equipped with the right technology and a highly skilled staff of professional investigative specialists, we can assist you in identifying a suspect, the purpose of an attack, and how it occurred. Cybercrime in Egypt is prosecuted under Law No. 175 of 2018.
Infidelity and Marital Investigations
A marriage or relationship brings with it the expectation of fidelity, but many find themselves in situations where this expectation is not being met by one or both of the individuals involved. See our note on divorce and infidelity law in Egypt below for how this evidence is actually treated under Egyptian law.
Our trained and experienced Egypt private investigators, staff, and management all have police and/or military background, Furthermore, they are well versed in local customs, culture, and society.
Private investigation work in Egypt does not appear to operate under a dedicated investigator license. Investigation and due-diligence firms are typically registered as ordinary businesses through Egypt’s General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) and issued a standard commercial registration certificate, known locally as a Sijil Tijari, rather than a specialized investigator credential. Uniformed and armed private security guard work is a separate, more tightly regulated category overseen by the Ministry of Interior.
Personal data collected during an investigation in Egypt falls under Law No. 151 of 2020, the Personal Data Protection Law, enforced by the Personal Data Protection Center. Violations can carry administrative fines of up to EGP 5 million and criminal penalties of more than six months in prison. The law’s executive regulations, finalized by Ministerial Decree 816/2025, set a compliance deadline of November 1, 2026.
Recording a private conversation in Egypt requires the consent of everyone involved, not just one party. Article 309 bis of the Penal Code, as amended by Law No. 37 of 1972, makes it a crime to eavesdrop on, record, or transmit a private conversation without consent, carrying up to one year in prison for a private citizen and three to fifteen years for a public official who does the same. Andersen Egypt’s legal team has published a detailed breakdown of these rules.
Cybercrime investigations, including unauthorized computer access and the non-consensual sharing of someone’s photos or recordings, are prosecuted under Law No. 175 of 2018, the Anti-Cyber and Information Technology Crimes Law.
Egypt’s Personal Status Law gives a Muslim wife the right to a no-fault judicial divorce known as khul’, available since Law No. 1 of 2000. A khul’ divorce does not require her to prove any wrongdoing by her husband, though she forfeits her dower and any further alimony claim to obtain it. Custody of the children is not affected by a khul’ divorce.
Adultery is a criminal offense in Egypt under Penal Code Articles 237 and 273 through 277, not simply a basis for divorce. The law treats a wife’s adultery as a crime wherever it takes place, while a husband’s adultery is only a crime if it occurs inside the marital home, and prosecution can only begin if the wronged spouse personally files a complaint.
Background checks in Egypt typically run through the Fesh wa Tashbih, officially a Criminal Record Certificate, issued by the Ministry of Interior’s General Department of Criminal Evidence and available to request through Egypt’s Digital Egypt government services portal. It covers up to seven years of criminal history for citizens and foreign nationals alike.
