Privin Network provides private investigation services in the Philippines, connecting clients with our investigators and local partners, experienced in surveillance, background checks, infidelity cases, corporate fraud investigations, and locating missing persons. Private investigation is a licensed profession in the Philippines, regulated under Republic Act No. 11917, and every case is scoped with Philippine law in mind from the outset.
Our investigators and local partners cover Metro Manila, the country’s capital and financial center, well suited to corporate due diligence and background investigations; Cebu, the Philippines’ second-largest business hub and a major center for the BPO and tourism industries, where much of the work involves employment screening and personal cases; and Cavite, home to several PEZA-registered industrial zones south of Manila, where much of the caseload involves employee misconduct and corporate fraud tied to its manufacturing sector. Wherever your case is based, our investigators and local partners know the area.
Our success is based on your success, and here are some of the many professional services our local investigators and partners in the Philippines can provide:
Personal Investigations
Not everyone is always who they say they are. Whether it’s an individual or a corporation, determine who they are and why they’re there.
Background Checks
Identify and confirm pertinent information about an individual for an important decision, often drawing on the NBI Clearance and Police Clearance systems described below.
Surveillance
An organization or individual may find that they need surveillance help due to suspicious behavior or due to a situation or event that may have occurred. Any recording involved in surveillance work must account for the Philippines’ strict consent requirements for private communications, described below.
International Investigations
If you have a business relationship or are contemplating a new business venture in the Philippines, it’s not uncommon to need the services of a private investigator to verify good information about an individual or corporation.
Locate Investigations
With our investigative skills, we can help you gain addresses and phone numbers for locating individuals.
Cybercrimes and Digital Forensics
Equipped with the right technology and a highly skilled staff of professional investigative specialists, we can assist you in identifying a suspect, the purpose of an attack, and how it occurred. Cybercrime in the Philippines is prosecuted under the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
Infidelity and Marital Investigations
A marriage or relationship brings with it the expectation of fidelity, but many find themselves in situations where this expectation is not being met by one or both of the individuals involved. See our note on divorce and custody law in the Philippines below for how infidelity evidence is actually used in Philippine family courts.
Our trained and experienced Philippines private investigators, staff, and management all have police and/or military background, Furthermore, they are well versed in local customs, culture, and society.
Private investigation and private security work in the Philippines is a licensed profession, not an unregulated trade. Republic Act No. 11917, the Private Security Services Industry Act, took effect in 2022 and repealed the older 1969 law that previously governed the industry. Private detective and security agencies are regulated by the Philippine National Police through its Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies. Individual investigators must hold a License to Exercise Security Profession, which requires Filipino citizenship, good moral character, and completion of a PNP-mandated pre-licensing training program.
Personal data collected during an investigation is governed by the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), enforced by the National Privacy Commission. The law requires organizations to report a data breach to the Commission and to affected individuals within 72 hours of discovery.
Recording a private conversation in the Philippines requires the consent of every party involved, not just one. Under the Anti-Wiretapping Act of 1965 (Republic Act No. 4200), secretly recording a private communication without everyone’s consent is a criminal offense, punishable by up to six years in prison, even for a participant recording their own conversation.
Cybercrime investigations, including hacking, online fraud, and identity theft, are prosecuted under the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10175), which also created the Department of Justice’s Office of Cybercrime.
The Philippines does not have a general divorce law. Filipino citizens who want to end a marriage must instead pursue legal separation, a declaration of nullity, or annulment, none of which carry the same legal effect as an ordinary divorce. Legal separation does not dissolve the marriage itself, so neither spouse is free to remarry afterward. Several bills to introduce absolute divorce have passed the House of Representatives and remain pending in the Senate as of 2026, but none has been signed into law.
Infidelity is a recognized ground for legal separation, but it is not by itself a ground for annulment. A spouse’s conduct, including infidelity, can still influence how a court decides custody, support, and property arrangements once a legal separation case is filed.
Background checks in the Philippines typically rely on one of two government-issued certificates. The NBI Clearance is issued by the National Bureau of Investigation and reflects criminal records nationwide, while a Police Clearance Certificate issued by a local Philippine National Police station only reflects records within that station’s jurisdiction.

Infidelity itself is a ground for legal separation, not automatic loss of custody, but a court can weigh a parent’s conduct when deciding custody, support, and property once a legal separation case is underway.
